Hadley - Seven Months Old

It's official.  Hayes and I had a very serious chat the other day, and he decided that Hadley is no longer a little baby.  She is now becoming a "Big Girl"...you know, since she is starting to become mobile and starting to talk and all.  Evidently, that is like a sort of graduation or something in a toddler's eyes.  And you know what?  There really is some kind of truth to that.  She is getting awfully big, and she is a girl.  So I'll roll with it.  And here is what our "Big Girl" is doing these days...
  • Eating - This girl has yet to meet a food she doesn't like.  Quesadillas?  Loves them.  Roasted carrots?  Eats that up too.  Chick-Fil-A nuggets.  Oh, don't even get me started!  Hadley is definitely our eater, and there are meals where she even eats her older brother under the table!
  • Sleeping - This month gave us our first dose of sleepless nights with her.  Something was just off, and she would wake up about an hour or two after we put her down...and the rest of the night was just horrible from there.  The only way she would doze is if she was latched on to her pacifier me.  And well, that makes for a horrible night's sleep for everyone.  So yeah, after about THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS of no sleep (as in none, zilch!!), she finally got a diagnosis of roseola.  And I think some teeth are trying to pop through too.  Fun.  Except totally not.
  • Thinking - Just like she loves her food, she also loves her toys.  She is very quickly figuring out how to play with them too.  Which ones to shake.  Which ones to hit.  Which ones to love on.  And speaking of loving on things, she is slightly obsessed with giving kisses these days.  Big, wet, sloppy kisses.  And she can never give just one.  Usually, more like 10 or 20 at a time.
  • Talking - Another word has been added to her vocab!  And much to Cody's dismay, it is not "dada."  Nope, it is "buh-buh," and she uses it very purposefully to refer to her brother.  If you ask her where "buh-buh" is - she looks straight at him.  And of course, he smiles.
  • Moving - So she decided to put the whole crawling thing on hold for just a bit and start pulling herself up to standing instead.  Little stinker.  She still is about >this< close to crawling, but I guess she wanted to keep us on our toes and mix things up instead.  So for now, we have a part-time stander and part-time almost crawler.  And we'll take it!

**BIG BROTHER UPDATE** - Oh, y'all...where do I even begin?  Now that Hadley is becoming a "big girl," these two are out. of. control.  They play together, cry together, laugh together.  They miss each other dearly when one is gone, even if just for a bit.  They are the epitome of BFF's, and I seriously melt a little more each and every day that I get to just soak these two in.  You know how everyone says that you fall deeper in love with your spouse after watching them as a parent?  Well, I think the same is true for your children too.  Watching Hayes as a big brother has just about made my heart burst out of my chest, and Hadley is pretty much the best little sister too!
