28 Days...

Yesterday was a big day for our little family, and I have been looking forward to it for months!  It was another day full of appointments and consultations in the medical center...but the usual stress and nervousness that comes with these days was replaced with excitement and positivity!  My care was officially transferred from my local obstetrician to the maternal fetal medicine doctor who will be delivering Hayes.  I have had a growing list of questions that only she can answer, so I was excited to finally be able to sit down with her and start asking them all.  On the top of that list was - when is my baby boy going to be here?  After a very short discussion and an even quicker look at the calendar, Hayes's birthday was decided upon...

If you are doing the math like we were, you will realize that this date is only a month away.  Four weeks to be exact.  28 days.  Aaah!  After a few minutes of letting the news sink in, we were able to start making plans for the weeks leading up to his arrival as well as the weeks following his delivery.  I will continue with weekly doctor's appointments to monitor both his progress as well as mine as his birth date approaches.  Then, Hayes will leave the safety of my growing belly to the nurturing arms of all of the staff at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital.  Meeting all of the wonderful doctors and nurses who will be taking care of my baby boy and touring the specialized NICU floor helped to ease my mind and reassure me that we are exactly where we need to be!
